As Thursday’s snowfall begins to taper, Chicago residents are still dealing with the aftermath of this week’s storm, which dumped more than 18 inches of snow on the city.

In Rogers Park, journalism students from Loyola University Chicago captured images of the heavy snowfall. These photos were provided by Loyola Senior Sydney Durfee. They were taken on a stretch of Loyola Avenue.

The weather outlook in Chicago is expected to improve. The National Weather Service forecasts that snow will taper off later Thursday, followed by a brief cold snap Friday. Temperatures will rise Saturday, followed by more snow Sunday. But temperatures will rise above freezing next week.
