S&C Electric Company, the city’s second largest manufacturer and a Rogers Park fixture for years, has been named one of the top 20 places to work among large employers in Chicago.

The award, handed out yearly by the Chicago Tribune, specifically placed S&C at #15.

Company officials said they were and their workers are both happy and proud to be chosen for the honor.

“It’s incredibly meaningful to be selected as one of the top workplaces in Chicago, given the award is based on direct feedback from our team members,” said Aurelie Richard, S&C chief human development and strategy officer. “As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to change how we live and work, this recognition from our team members is a great gauge of our continued progress, illustrating that we are actively living our core values and guiding principles of excellence, respect, integrity, and responsible stewardship.”

S&C has had it’s large headquarters in Chicago for more than 100 years, located at Ridge and Devon in Rogers Park. It has 2,000 employees at its Chicago location, and more than 3,000 employees worldwide. S&C is an employee-owned manufacturer that prides itself on designing and manufacturing utility-scale electric-grid equipment.

Now in its 11th year, The Chicago Tribune’s Top Workplaces list recognizes companies that engage, motivate, and reward team members while also exploring how organizations create and sustain a positive and productive culture, according to a statement from S&C.
