Democratic presidential hopeful Michael Bloomberg opened a field office in Edgewater Feb. 4, at 1130 W. Bryn Mawr.
It’s one of five Illinois offices Bloomberg has opened, including one on Chicago’s south side. A billionaire media mogul and former mayor of New York, Bloomberg visited Chicago last month, appearing before about 200 people at Olive-Harvey College.
The Edgewater office was opened Tuesday with help from John W. Rogers Jr., chairman and co-CEO of Chicago-based Ariel Investments. Rogers, a friend of former President Barack Obama, originally endorsed Sen. Kamala Harris, but switched to Bloomberg after the senator dropped out of the race, according to Block Club Chicago.
Bloomberg entered the Democratic presidential primary race in November, and has spent over $300 million in campaign advertising.
