A 19-year-old man was shot and killed in the neck and chest on the Howard Street Red Line platform, shortly after noon Tuesday.
Police said an unknown offender walked up to the victim and shot Macksantino at about 12:15 p.m.. The shooter then fled down Paulina Street, according to CBS2 Chicago. A gun was recovered near the platform, according to a Chicago Police spokesperson, who also said the victim was “known to police.”
Police originally listed Webb as 20 years old. But the Cook County Medical Examiner listed his age as 19.
An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday.
Chicago Transit Authority officials were warning riders to expect delays on the Purple, Red and Yellow lines.
Ald. Maria Hadden (49th) posted a statement on her Facebook page about the murder.
“A young life was taken earlier today at the Howard CTA stop. Condolences to the family and friends of Macksantino Webb,” she said. “We are so sorry for your loss. Police are still investigating but have told us this tragedy stemmed from an interpersonal conflict. They have leads on the shooter. We’ll share more details as we receive them.”
When will this end?
I have no idea but hopefully soon.
It won’t end in Chicago.
