Two Rogers Park murders within about a block of each other this weekend do not appear to be connected, according to police.
The first homicide occurred at about 3:49 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 9th, when Lance Strickland, 19, was stabbed in the chest after a verbal argument with an unknown offender, police said. The incident took place in the 1600 block W. Jonquil Terrace.
The second incident occurred at about 2:10 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 10, in the 7600 block of N. Ashland. Police said Vance Williams, 47, was wounded in an apparent drive-by shooting, and found in the courtyard of a nearby building. The offender may have fired from a black SUV, police said.
Williams was was was transported to St. Francis Hospital in Evanston, where he was pronounced dead. No offenders are in custody at this time as Area North detectives continue to investigate.
Although police have made no connection between the two incidents, they occurred within one block and 12 hours of one another.
