S&C Electric Company employees helped raise nearly $450,000 for three neighborhood charities, continuing their more than century-long tradition of giving to communities around them.

“We are invested in the communities [in] which we work and want to be able to help and improve them,” Holly Haitsma, Senior Manager- Information Technology and S&C Annual Giving Campaign Co-Chair, said.

Haitsma said there was a lot of thankfulness and appreciation for the donations on behalf of the communities.

“It was great just to see some of the people that are recipients of our donations,” Haitsma said.

Haitsma said the staff at S&C, which is located at Ridge and Devon, was very excited about the giving campaign, and the employees participation increased from less than 50 percent last year to more than 70 percent this year.

“I think [this increase in participation] is a pretty good indicator of how the team members responded, and it was awesome to see their response,” Haitsma said.

S&C’s website states that “S&C constantly strives to build strong relationships within its surround communities.” Since 1909, S&C has rallied staff to be good neighbors and give back to the community where they can. This year, more than 70 percent of the company’s employees contributed towards the three charities in this year’s campaign. S&C was able to match employees’ donations by 150 percent.
