Chicago police say they are looking for three people they believe were involved in a weekend gunfight near the corner of Clark and Howard that left an innocent bystander dead.

Shane Columbo, a 25-year-old student just starting a graduate program at Northwestern, was killed. Columbo had recently moved to Evanston.

Ald. Joe Moore (49th) released grainy photos he said police gathered from surveillance video. Police said two men were chasing a third westbound on Howard. When they turned on Clark, one of them opened fire. Some of those shots struck Columbo, police said.

“I have been in regular communication with (Chicago Police) Commander Roberto Nieves about this homicide,” Moore said in a post on his website. “Additional gang crime teams have been dispatched to the Howard and Clark area in the wake of this incident and detectives are examining video footage of the incident.”
