ArtSeed, a San Francisco based non-profit arts educational program, will be hosting an information session today, at 1754 West Albion 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

The goal is to help teach art as a form of healing, said founder Josefa Vaughan, who described the event as “a disciplined structured way to help tell your story that doesn’t trigger pain anymore.”

Vaughan said ArtSeed also wants people to explore art in ways they haven’t tried, “using our own ability to tell more stories.”

ArtSeed incorporates forms of art in explaining the roots, histories and legacies of Chicago-based artists. The program also encourages people to imagine the creative possibilities in their own neighborhood.

Families are invited to explore the roots of their neighborhood with the use of art.
