The Shedd Aquarium recently debuted a new mural in Edgewater. It explores “the diverse and vibrant beauty of marine life” as the Shedd showcases their Underwater Beauty exhibit.

Located at 6022 North Broadway behind Patio Beef, Chicago street artist, Caesar Perez, who goes by Czr Prz, has revealed his Underwater Beauty Mural to the public.

“I really wanted to have something in Edgewater that I can show people my own talents,” said Perez.

The Shedd recruited muralist and street artist from all over Chicago. The artists were asked to use their own cultures and experiences to interpret the Shedd’s new exhibit. Jo-Elle Mogerman, Vice President of Learning and Community told us more about the new exhibit.

“The exhibit is a multi-species exhibit that really highlights the beauty of the underwater world,” she said.

Mogerman wants Chicagoans from all communities to engage with the Shedd’s Underwater Beauty exhibit. She said the goal of the exhibit was to show the city the beauty of our oceans.

“The underwater beauty is beautiful and that beauty is worth saving,” Mogerman said.

Perez hopes to create more murals around Rogers Park and Edgewater that will encourage the community to learn more about marine life.

“I never done anything in Edgewater. I really wanted to have something in Edgewater that I can show people my own talents,” Perez said.

Perez and Mogerman are looking forward to creating more mural pop-ups in Chicago and encourage everyone to take a look into the Underwater Beauty exhibit.
