Lickity Split is a local frozen custard and sweet shop with two locations in Chicago, one in Western Ave. and one in Edgewater, on the corner of Glenlake and Broadway.

The shop provides frozen custards, sundaes, concretes, shakes and malts, coffee, retro sodas, drinks and retro candy.

Lickity Split was started by owner Ken Anderson, who said he’s always loved sweet ice cream. He had his first job at 16 at a ice cream shop in Rockford, IL.

Anderson said at first wanted to do a frozen custard shop, but he decided to include the sweet shop as well to have the shop last all year round. In both shops, he provides gourmet chocolate, retro candy, retro soda, espresso bar, pastries from local bakers and, of course, frozen custard.

Anderson said his favorite items on the menu are the frozen custards and the banana split. His best selling items are crazy cake concretes., which are made by putting together any cupcake and custard the customer wants, blending the ingredients together and topping it off with candy sprinkles.

Anderson said he wants his customers to know that Lickity Split has a welcoming and cozy atmosphere and he is involved in the community.

Anderson said he partners with local schools, charities and Loyola University Chicago. Lickity Split also offers discounts to all law enforcement and military and even treats for dogs.

Customer Margaus Fournier said the shop has a retro vibe. She said she usually orders concretes and sundaes and she would recommend her friends to come to Lickity Split

Lickity Split at Edgewater location is open every day from noon to 10:00 p.m.
