Vienna Beef restaurant, home of the original Chicago style hot dogs, is commemorating their 125th anniversary. As part of the celebration, they will be opening a Hot Dog Museum a couple blocks away from Bucktown.
The Hot Dog Museum will have photos, classic aids, signs, packaging, hot dog making equipment, and much more.
The museum is free and will be open 10am to 2pm Monday through Friday. The museum will be located at 2501 N. Damen, and will offer their visitors a chance to experience the evolution of the classic Chicago – style hot dog.
The company’s celebration will end with an official party on August 1st honoring all the 125 inductees in the company’s Hot Dog Hall of Fame.
In 1893 Vienna Beef made its debut at the Chicago World’s Fair/Columbian Exposition and immigrants Emil Reichel and Samuel Ladany. They opened the first Vienna Sausage store the year after on the near West Side and it’s been growing since then, making the best hot dogs in Chicago.
