After winning two March Madness games that most oddsmakers predicted they’d lose, the Loyola men’s basketball team returned back home on Sunday afternoon. Students, as well as Rogers Park and Edgewater fans, greeted them at 3:30 p.m. on Loyola’s campus.
Loyola Senior Jenna Ronan watched as the team ran through the crowd, slapping hands with well-wishers. She said, “The vibe was unreal. I love that Loyola students and the community are rallying behind the team. I have Loyola winning it all on my NCAA bracket. Fingers crossed!”
On Saturday, Loyola upset Tennessee with a 63-62 win, earning a place in the Sweet Sixteen. They will be traveling to Atlanta to play Nevada on Thursday.
