On Saturday, Loyola claimed a spot in the third round of March Madness, otherwise known as the Sweet Sixteen.

Loyola beat the University of Tennessee by one point. The final score was 63-62.

Junior Clayton Cluster, secured the final shot with 3.5 seconds left on the clock.

“Coach put me in a position to make a play at the end, and I’m very appreciative of that,” Cluster said. “I mean, the only thing I can say is glory to God for that one.”

The tight game saw both teams take the lead back and forth. Loyola went into halftime with a 29-25 lead,  but Tennessee took the the lead in the second half.

Junior Gianna Lorbeck feels that excitement surrounding the team has created a new wave of school spirit.

“It brings a different dynamic to the campus, I think that we’re not used to being a basketball school or a school whose focused on sports anyways,” Lorbeck said. “So it’s kind of cool just to see the whole school come together in Damen to watch the whole game.”

The Ramblers will play in the Sweet Sixteen in Atlanta, Ga. on March 22 against the University of Nevada.
