Jordan Community Elementary School is hosting cooking classes for students in third through eighth grade along with their families.

Common Threads is teaming with Jordan Community Elementary to teach students and their families how to eat healthier at home without losing their own unique style.

Students can sign up for two classes between 3:00-5:30 pm on the following days:

● February 5 and 12

● February 26 and March 5

● March 12 and 19

Interested students can contact Arturo Medina from Youth Guidance at amedina@youth-guidance.org or 773-331-6272.

Participants will learn how to substitute their usual ingredients for healthier, more cost-effective ones without losing flavor.

Topics explored in classes include “Family Dinner Without the Stress,” “Restaurant Meals You Can Make At Home,” and “Healthy Breakfast Made Easy.”

For each class, every family will cook a meal and receive a free family cookbook at the end of their sessions. Classes will be held in the Jordan Community Elementary School Kitchen, located at 7414 N Wolcott Ave.

Common Threads dedicates themselves to educating the public on nutrition and health. The Chicago-based company teaches the importance of healthy eating and unites loved ones through the arts of cooking and teamwork.
