Loyola Athletics has drawn up a plan to build a new sports facility on campus, mainly to aid the basketball and the volleyball teams.

The two-story facility will consist of a full sized basketball court that meets NCAA Regulations and two NCAA regulated-volleyball courts, on each floor. There will also be a film room for the teams to use.

The facility will be funded by Al Norville, former basketball player.

Freshman student-athlete Tyler Biggs says, “It is exciting to see former athletes providing for the athletic community.  It helps us know that people care for us. I can’t wait to see the finished project.”

“As an alumnus and fellow Rambler, I know how much athletics adds to the campus culture for all students,” said Norville. “Contributing to my alma mater and the athletic program gives me the opportunity to ensure that student-athletes, for years to come, will enjoy the new practice facility, which will allow them to compete at the highest level.”

The building will be located in between Mertz Hall and The Norville Athletic Centre.  It will also be connected with a skywalk.
