A driver struck an 18-year-old Loyola student outside of Regis Residence Hall at 2:30pm Wednesday, Feb. 7th.

According to the Loyola Phoenix, the driver was heading west on Sheridan Road when the student was struck at the intersection of Sheridan and North Winthrop Avenue.

After the accident, first responders took the male student to Presence St. Francis Hospital in Evanston, where he is now in stable condition.

Within the last 12 months, there have been two other accidents involving pedestrians and cars at that same intersection

Alex Peterson, a student living in Regis Hall, said, “The intersection is very dangerous. Lots of cars are not looking out for pedestrians and are often running red and yellow lights.”

According to the Phoenix, Rocco Alioto of Chicago Police Department News Affairs did not know if any citations were issued.

Police have not completed their investigation.
